I was wondering if anyone had any ideas how I would get into a career in sports. I have been working for two years as a project manager and I really like Baseball and stats. I would like to be a scout or something similar.

To get into scouting, most teams usually prefer you to have a background in baseball (beyond the little league or high school level). You can contact the MLB Scouting Bureau to see how you can get into Scouting School. I am not sure if you can get into it without being a scout first.

Send your resume to as many teams as you can. Most people that work in sports, had an "in" already...they either knew someone, were a former player, etc. (excluding accountants, attorneys, admin personnell, trainers, etc..)

I used to work for the Yankees...I got the job because I knew a scout at the time, and he got me an interview.

But the best bet is to just keep sending resumes, making phone calls, and staying persistent. Contact your local minor league teams, sporting organizations, etc.

Good luck
