I have close friend in the military, and what they tell public polls is very often not what they say in private.

No. Maybe closer to half. There have been a number of soldiers coming back who've stumped for Democrats or third-party candidates, who've complained of inadequacy of body-armor, lack of organization, and communications failures between themselves and their families. Also, some of the National Guard training has been under scrutiny, as 1) the NG has failed to meet its recruitment quotas more and more frequently; and 2) what few sign are are in great demand as the instability in Iraq and Afghanistan worsens.

And yes, there is actually public relations training where soldiers are instructed in how to respond to the media in terms of answering questions about the war, which smacks of classic Orwellian doublespeak.

95%? Sounds a bit high. I would say a majority, and a pretty significant majority, but nowhere near 95%.

That's why the Dems tried to get their absentee ballots nullified in Florida in 2000 - because of the majority support for the GOP.

As for that crap about being told what to think and say, I've never met many enlisted troops that were not capable of independent thought and action. The military doesn't need dummies.

So, did somebody tell you to think and say this?

I continue to find that by listening to the loudest which makes you think there in the Majority are actually the Manority as in this case I would feel that it may not be 95% of the people would be supporting but I would say not to far off...

And i would say the ones just in it for schooling and such would mostly be against the war and Pres Bush...

95% of troops in Iraq or 95% of soldiers in general?

95% of troops who are currently in Iraq, 95% of troops currently in Iraq who were surveyed during Rumsfeld's visit, or 95% of troops either currently in, formerly in, or wounded in Iraq? 95% of troops in Afghanistan?

these numbers don't work unless they're a little more specific...

I saw a news item about trying to get wounded soldiers off the field before they die so they won't count as soldiers "killed in Iraq"... any truth to this?

If you die in a German hospital you do not count

I support the troops, god bless them.
I do not support the invasion of Iraq.
I do not believe innocent Iraqi people should die for the USA.
I do not believe Saddam or his people are responsible for 9-11.
I do not support George W. Bush, his war, or his lies.
I do not think our soldiers should die for the President of Iraq.

Yeah... sure... keep listening to draft-dodging Rush Limbaugh.

There are currently sixty one (61) Veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars running as Democrats this November for seats in Congress ... yet only one (who had to be recruited to death by the GOP) is running in the Republican Party.

In the beginning, there were close to 90 running as Democrats -- but some stepped aside to allow their Democratic opponent to run, or who were not elected in their primary.

But the field is still MASSIVE and it's incredible to see so many Veteran's who want to serve our country in Congress!

Yes, and I also believe we are in Iraq to help the people of Iraq and President Bush and his cronies are great leaders. NOT.

just a tip from another veteran (I find it shocking that a soldier would ever use the term 'ex-soldier').... a lot of those people that tell you what to think and say are the uber-libs (when trying to tell you to think that they are the best persons to handle how your money is allocated) and the media
