I'm not a motorbike expert myself, but I'll try to describe what he wants. What he wants to know is the space between the valves so that he can measure the adjustment himself while the mech is doing it? He's using a Kawasaki Twin Cylinder KLE (or KCE)? Any help out there?

Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions.
Depending on what model you have, it could have tappet adjusters or shims.
Do you want to know how to adjust the valves or what is the valve clearance? Either one, we need to know the year and exact model.
If you want to check what the mech is doing while you're watching him, ask him.
None of these answers doing it for you? Buy a shop manual.

Tell him to get a manual and the valves adjustment measurment tool. If you follow the book this is easier than you'd think. AND much cheaper.

A friend of mine has a tumor but doesn't trust the doctor.

Mechanics usually go to school for this kind of stuff, they are the professionals, and if they mess it up, you get it fixed for free.

Buy the service manual off e-bay and look up the spec.
