the over the counter stuff, used to be by prescription only, is called Pyridium. It is metabolized thru the kidneys, thus turning your urine orange.(same color as the med when it dissolves). It is primarily a urinary tract anesthetic. It doesn't cure the infection, it just masks the discomfort associated with the infection.
