You may disagree with my headline, but you cant dispute the fact that they are clearly against Christian values. From Abortion, to Gay Marrage, all the way to welfare. When did this happen?

The bible clearly says if a man doesn't work a man doesn't eat. You should help those who CANT help themselves not anyone who feels like sitting on the dole.

Jim W missed the point of the question, I didn't ask anyones opinion on these issues, I asked when the Democrats rejected Christian Values.

Stephanie, you just did the same thing. Your forcing your liberal views on others that believe abortion is murder.

Politics and religion is suppose to be seperated in the United States of America. Seperation of Church and state. Democrats may believe highly in the same issues as republicans in their personal lives, but when it comes to politics and government most try to keep it the two seperate. Hence the reason why we don's have the same outlook on certain moral issues politically as republicans.

As to when exactly, I am not sure. I think that somewhere along the way the meaning of being a "republican" Or "democrat" has changed. Not necessarily a good or bad thing, but I think that through the years the meaning has evolved and probably will continue to. If you look back at the presidential elections in history the political parties believe in different things today.

But I would say that maybe the meanings started to change around Vietnam. I would have to do more research on that subject.

Even though I dont by any means agree with your opinion, I thought that this was a great question for all of us democrats to retort. And I will probably do more research as to when the parties started to change.

The Democratic party (myself anyway) are not Anti-Christian, they just don't base their political philosophy on religion, as some more conservative Republicans do. The bible says not to judge others, we all have free will. The founding fathers separated church from state for a reason!!!! Republicans judge others all the time ie: abortion is wrong, gay marriage is wrong. Who are you to say what is right and wrong with someone's personal life. If Republicans were so religious I would think they wouldn't have missed the part in the bible about not judging and the fact that God will be the judge. Democrats are smart, they are secular which is exactly what our constitution and our society dictates from George Washington to George W. (although he doesn't seem to believe in this!) they have no right to force their "christian" beliefs on anyone-God gave people free will, Republicans aren't the authority on right and wrong like they seem to think they are.....

Im a democrat and a christian. You cant say we have all lost christian values. Just because you support someones right to choose and right to marry, doesnt mean you have abandoned christian beliefs. For me personally it means that I dont wish to force my religious beliefs on anyone, as religion is a personal choice and should have no place in making law. Just because the Bible says marriage is between a man and a woman should not be a legitimate reason to not allow gays to marry. Our country is not ruled by the Bible. If you feel abortion is wrong dont get one, become an alternative choice counselor, but who gave you the right to force your beliefs on another. If you feel gay marriage is wrong, thats fine, but dont punish them for your views.

That may be but I think religion should stop pushing its *******
retarded agenda on this country. The Democratic party never
turned anti Christian.Republican conservatives just turned anti
thinking for yourselves!!!!!!!

My guess is when they read the Constitution, got the the 1st Amendment, and realized that it prohibits the government from enacting laws based purely on religious doctrine. And since most of the things you mention have no valid non-religious grounds to support enforcement via statute, they decided to actually follow the constitution and allow people to choose for themselves.

Or, if you want a date, around 1878, when the Supreme Court officially recognized that separation of church and state was a constitutional requirement.

Democrats are pro-morals,, Christian values, like those of Ann Coulter,,, Jerry Falwell,, Dick Cheney,, think he ever wishes his gay daughter had been aborted,, is Gods Will the reason that fiscal conservatives lobby for their leaders,, where were they after Katrina, where are they as our children are sold into the sex slave trade, where are the pious after a 13 year old rape victim is forced to give birth to her Fathers child, or the Alter Boy, or Boy Scout finally takes enough abuse from those in charge of their care,, hypocrisy has no religion..............

No, the Democrats are friendly to religion, some of the Democrats, myself included has issues with the Fundamentalist Christians. If you want to read some strong anti-Christian propaganda, you need to read Kevin Philip's American Theocracy. As to the threat that the Fundamentalist pose to the nation I would suggest my work called "Neo-Con Nation." You really do need to go beyond your narrow searches on the web.

I think they have always had leadership that never stood for anything so they fall for anything. I can't pin the exact time they degraded so much, but it is a matter of deductive reasoning they would be at the point they are now. The question is how long will they actually remain a party before the Independents run them over!!!
