Probably during the day because people are more alert. At night, everyone's winding down, getting ready for bed, looking to the next day. But the reason, I think, some answers are mean is because of the question being asked. For example, this one person asked if she was setting a bad example for her young child living near a frat house with three guys that party all the time. She got some pretty harsh answers there lol. I like to think that not all mean sounding answers aren't really mean but blunt and honest. But yea some are just mean.

I have seen some really mean answers at night, too. I guess some people don't understand that some of the questions on here are serious and the people asking them are looking for real answers. There are so many young people that get on here and ask stupid questions that it is hard to tell which questions are sincere and which are poo.

Maybe during the day people are at work and just answering very quickly so they come across as rude. Most people don't work at night so they can be home and relaxed.

I have to admit, I've fall prey to the rude response, once or twice. Some of the questions are just plain stupid. Why would you go online to ask if you're pregnant? Buy a pregnancy test. Why would you ask if you are still a virgin if you don't bleed when you lose you virginity? At that point it's a mute issue!
There is a point we all just lose it!

maybe during the day, people are at work and having a bad day and taking it out on Q&A... At night, they are more relaxed or stoned, so the mood is more ... nice

Maybe mean people don't have day jobs.
The anonymity of this place leads people to be abnormally cruel sometimes, and they leave the answers for the points.

Some people defend their right to get drunk, sleep around,smoke dope; other people ask insulting or obscene questions;still others use atrocious grammar and/or can't spell;some ask questions which nobody can understand, or ask ther people to do their homework for them, and on and on.
It is not hard to understand why they get mean answers.
