If you believe that caffine may be partly to blame, you will need to stay away from Excedrine products. Excedrine has 65 mg. of caffine in each tablet. That is a sizable dose of caffine if you take the recommended 2 tablets. It also contains aspirin and Tylenol. Like many, I had good success for many years with Excedrine, but over time (I am now 55 yrs old) they lost their effectiveness, and I begin to get 'rebound' headaches from too much Excedrine. I also developed a bleeding stomach from too many Excedrine. A 2 tablet dose a day will probably do you no harm, but if need more you should probably take the advise of Respondent #1. Imitrex is one of several so-called 'triptan' drugs available that should give you relief in 30 to 50 min. Since they are very expensive, ask for the 100 mg Imitrex tablets, then cut them in half. The directions will tell you not to cut them, but that is because they are exceedingly bitter. If you can stand it, let the half tablet disolve under your tongue for a minute, then drink some water. There are only 9 tablets to a box. By cutting them in half, you will get 18 doses that should work just fine.
In any case, there is no need to suffer with migraines any more. There are a variety of very good medications available now. Do not delay. See your Dr.

1.There is a place on your foot the is considered to release toxins from your liver. On the top of your foot just above your toes, Message for a few minutes on each foot, even better have someone else do this for you. RELAX.
2. Ginger Tea, Taste is nasty but if it works I bet you will drink it. Yogi brand or Organic is best. Fallow directions. 3-4 cups. Your body will tell you when you have had enough.
3. Green Apples. The old saying is an apple a day keeps the Dr. away.- Also there are new studies that recommend Green Apples
4. Soy milk, 1 cup per day!!
5. Artichokes
6.From the Dr. you can try to get certain medications that is now available..2 kinds that I know of.

That's all I can think of for now. A cool dark, quite room with a cold Cloth Packet (made with rice or beans). use like an ice pack.

Do you have a sinus infection? If so treatment is different.

Well for migraines usually pain killers will dull the pain and the never will help in the long run you probably want to find out what is causing it first. There are many ways to cause migraines ex. air born allergies, food allergies, and probably most usual case is actually the neck muscles being to tight. In your description the way these migraines act is if your body can't handle much right now which can cause you to have allergies so you probably want to move to more organic and natural foods so you are not adding any more toxins into you body. Plus what most people are allergic to in food is the hormones and preservatives that put in there, so try to stay away from those for the time being. The neck muscles I was talking about, first the main ones that cause migraines are the two neck muscles that run from the center of your collarbone to the back of your jaw on either side, the other neck muscle that can be causing this is the neck muscle on either side of you backbone. Getting massaged right in those places most people will find their migraines will substantially lessen or completely end from it. I Hope this helps.

I also suffer from severe migraines several times a week. The trigger for mine is bright light so I try to lessen the severity by having light blocking window blinds and curtains. A dark room always seems to help, as does a damp cloth placed over my eyes.

Unless it is a trigger for your migraines, caffeine can often help reduce the pain. If you don't like strong coffee, try drinking a Mt. Dew or one of the other high-caffeine sodas.

Also, I highly recommend some form of aromatherapy. A diffuser with several drops of rosemary and peppermint essential oils works wonders! If you don't have a diffuser, a few drops of the oils on a cloth or handkerchief will work. Just be careful not to let the full strength oils get on your skin or any furniture. (CAUTION: As with all treatments, you should check with your doctor or do your own research. Some essential oils can have adverse effects if you are pregnant, or have other physical ailments. For example, fennel essential oil can trigger an epileptic seizure.)

I don't like going to the doctor and I hate taking pills so these are the remedies I use. You really should speak with your doctor or pharmacist, though. There are several drugs that do help with the migraines and there are preventive medicines, such as beta blockers, that help lessen the occurrence of the headaches.

Good luck!

Try to find the signals that a migraine is coming. Do you see lights or anything? Does light bother you? Do you get an upset stomach?

Take whatever med you try right away.

After 25 years of migraine, I am trying acupuncture. It may be helping. It actually stopped the symptoms totally on Monday.

If your headaches are bad, see a good doctor. Teri Roberts at about.com migraine section, has lots of good info on doctors and meds, etc.

I use either amerge or fiorinal for my problem.
Ginger is helpful for sick stomach.

I take topomax daily, firocet when the migraine starts and if that doesn't work, I take maxalt. Then when all else fails, I turn to oxycodone. Good Luck. Definately see a doctor. I am reading a new book by a Dr. Scott Brady, "6 Weeks to a pain free life". Hoping to get some relief without medication.

Monavie juice has helped some people I know.
Feverfew is used by herbal doctors to reduce the frequency and severity of migraines.
Take a multivitamin-mineral tab daily, and calcium-magnesium pills with meals.

I take Excedrin as soon as I feel a headache coming on. Make sure you have food in your stomach when you take the medication. If I wait too long to take Excedrin, I will get nauseous and start throwing up. Then I can't take any medication and have to wait for the migraine to go away and that can take up to five hours.

Do you drink Diet Cokes? The aspartame is a leading cause of migraine headaches. I've experienced it. My chiropractor recommended this book, but I can't think of the name. If you don't mind, I can check when I get home and e-mail you with the name or IM. But whatever you do, don't quit them cold turkey. Wean yourself off over a couple of weeks.

If you have those kind of migranes then I really know what your talking about and no Excedrin don't help. Try Imatrex or theres also one called Relpax it works wonders and its awesome. But if those don't work try laying off the caffene awhile and have the doctor check your brain cause it could be a tumor. Good luck. Also you might want to get in a very dark room with no sounds and try your hardest to relax. Its hard to do but try.
