When calling a professional like a lawncare provider, lawyer, banker, or even doctor, why do people so often argue with the professional and contradict what they say? I mean didn't you call them because they ARE the professionals in their respective fields?

cuz somewhere along the line people got this stupid idea stuck in their heads that the customer is always right. combine that with today's desire for instant gratification and voila! you have a lethal combination.

They just either don't like what they hear, like to argue, and/or sometimes they (as in the customer) just know more. Just beause you are labeled a professional doesn't mean you're a true professional. Like the Orkin man who came to kill fleas at my house. I have been researching fleas and I knew more than he did! He just knew how to use the spray! Plus, some professionals like to keep you away from the truth or embellish the truth just to make more money. You see a lot of this at autobody shops for instance. So there is a distrust and suspicion there.

They don't want the other party to think of them as ignorant and unqualified. Thus, the fear of getting "ripped" off. That's why people act smarter than they are.It's all about $$$$, not intellect.

Graphic artists experience the same thing. Hello. We went to college for a number of years not to mention all the experience we've gained.
