Led Zeppelin because
1) their music is much more classic in the sense it can be better adapted to any age, whereas the doors have a kind of 60's feel to them.
2) Jimmy Page is one hell of a guitarist and has the greatest riffs and solos the world has ever witnessed
3) John Bonham had drum beats which were a killer, absolutley heaven inspired
4) John Paul Jones was talented with so much musical instruments and his expertise on keyboards was great, hear No quarter for proof or All of my love
5) Has anyone heard a more touching voice than that of Robert Plant in Since i've been loving you?
Well i think that's just about it for proof. Led Zeppelin are the best!! (Don't get me wrong though, The Doors are also a great band but aren't as good as Led Zeppelin, i love them as well)

It is really almost impossible to compare the two bands. The Doors was more of a cult of personality band, with Jim Morrison being the focal point. They didn't even have a bass guitar player, and while Robbie Krieger was good he was not in the same class as Jimmy Page. Led Zeppelin was the better band. They were able to combine the British blues sound with heavy metal. I would have loved to have seen the Doors in concert because of Jim Morrison, I would go to a Led Zeppelin concert for the music. They had one of the greatest lead guitar players of all time, and certainly one of the best lead vocalists.

The Doors were good before Jim died because of Jim. He had that thing, that quality that just made them over-the-top. Jim WAS the sixties. It wouldn't have lasted, though. He'd be touring with them today in a bunch of those Classic Rock Tours where they only play the old stuff over and over because that's all anyone wants to hear.
Led Zeppelin, on the other hand, was a little more multi-faceted. They were the seventies, and there was a lot more than just one person going on. As individual musicians, they are/were probably more skilled than the Doors. Their lyrical and musical stuff builds on the Doors, so they're better there, just like Mozart is better than Bach: at least in part because the latter had the former to build on. Plus, you just have to love anyone who can put a reference to a Tolkein novel in a rock song without it coming off all nerdy.
Verdict: Zeppelin. Unless you're Bruce McCullough.

Easy! Led Zeppelin. Awesome band, seriously one of the best ever. The doors songs all sounded very similar, and the dude who sings for the doors has a voice that just bugs me.

Two GREATS....With two completely differant styles. Doors are for when you are in those more mellow moods and Led Zeppelin is for when you want to ROCK old school. They both have such great songs that bring back so many cool memories. Doors always make me think if Jim sitting on Venice Beach writing songs and Zeppelin makes me think of some really wild times.

Led Zeppelin is better, mostly because of Jimmy Page! Don't get me wrong, I love the Doors, but I need a little Led for my head!

Its really a close one! but i think i am gonna say The Doors since they had Jim Morrison who to this day is unsurpassed as the most incredible mad haunted soul shamen frontman of all time and The Doors music has stood the test of time much better and continues to hook new fans with each passing year and then there is the fact that the doors lyrics are some of the most beautiful poetic words ever written.
Besides After Whole Lotta Love , Stairway to Heaven and Dyer Maker the rest are mostly all the same in the Zep Collection. (okay Misty Mountain Hop too).

"Why do people keep bringing up these Zeppelin vs. the Doors threads? Stop with that, lol. For me, it's like having to choose between my mom or dad. I refuse to do it."
"actually Plant was a huge fan of the Doors (and one of the reasons he was so disappointed when they shared the bill in Seattle and he was offended how Jim taunted and insulted the audience), but anyway, Page was a fan too.
During their post-Zeppelin tour as Page/Plant, they used to do Light My Fire and Break On Through throughout the tour......mainly snippets during medleys"
