Around my fingernail hard skin has stared to grow.
It grows under the edge of the side of the nail and then it hurts and i have to pull it out from under neath the nail
it curls up under the nail and attaches its self to the nail at the same time

I have had the same thing since i could remember... if you just file them down it won't bother you. my dad has always had them too, and he did have a fungal infection as well, and lamisil took care of the infection but didn't affect this "thing" at all.

I believe it is just a part of your nail they call "hangnail" because when you pull on it, it becomes a hangnail.

It's hard to tell from just the description. It might just be a callous or something. Fungus tends to be smelly and spongy. It usually is underneath the nail. If you have done any damage to the nail plate or surrounding skin it may actually be a part of your nail. Go see your doctor. Better to do something about now than wait til it gets worse.

It sounds like an ingrown nail. It could possibly be a fungus. Is the nail turning yellowish and getting thick? If so, it's a fungus. Either way, you need to see a doctor to check it out.

need to see a doc...there's a new product called pen lac goes on like clear polish...works well, i 've used it but it is pricey & needs a prescription......DO NOT use anything (clippers,files,etc..) on that nail and then your healthy ones....you can spread it...do all other nails first than that one last ,than soak implements in rubbing alcohol for 15 mins or so.....

its a fungus get lamisil tablets and fast. if the nail is completley infected it could take up to a year to heal out with lamisil, so get to it early that way it won' t have as much to heal. The downside to this is lamisil is REALLY expensive. Hopefully you have medical insurance!

Sounds more like a hangnail. Fungus usually turns your nail a shade of yellow or brown and you get lines or pits in the nail. Please see this website for help.
