Are you sure you don't have agoraphobia? (fear of open or public spaces) You may need a shrink!

Have a great day!!!

Firstly, you need to calm down... The chances are that you are not very ill whatsoever...

One of the first answers listed was not constructive nor helpful - so ignore it.

It appears tto me that you are probably suffering some form of anxiety... This is extremely common and can be dealt with quite easily.

I'll bet that you are not sleeping particularly well either.... anyhow, the key to tackling this initially is just when you feel this coming on, you need to take deep breaths and hold the breath for about 5 seconds. This should combat the initial onset... then just try and control your breathing and keep it at a pace that you feel entirely comfortable with.

I might suggest that you visit your GP or doctor and discuss this with them.... I suspect that you are worried about some underlying issues and without realising it they are stressing you to this state.

Try and be rational when leaving the house, or are in the car... the chances of something happening are very unlikely.

Again practise breathing deeply and try and relax when this comes on again and just keep a rational point of view.

As you may have guessed, I have had these exact symptoms and this method has helped immensely in the past.

Best of luck and remember - keep calm always.

When you're driving in the UK, the Highways Agency, who look after the roads and the drivers on them, suggest you always take water and food out with you anyway, especially if there's a risk of snow or ice trapping you in your car. My mum used to say the same thing too.

Always having some water with you is a pretty good idea but feeling like you're unable to leave the house or swallow without it may be a sign of something else.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is just one such condition where people feel absolutely compelled to do something or they feel like very bad things will happen if they don't.

Dealing with compulsions is different for everyone. Some drugs, normally from the class SSRIs, can be used for treating obsessive compulsive disorder if it's a medicated approach you personally want. Not everyone wants or needs drugs to handle what sounds like a pretty sensible routine. Remember - they only work for about 60% of OCD patients, but do not "cure" OCD.

Before taking any action, you might like to consider what positive effects this has on your life:

- You always have water and food with you in case of being trapped in traffic or away from home
- You're unlikely to suddenly need the toilet when you're out because you've already been

If it's causing you major problems in your life, consider talking to your doctor as they may be able to advise where to go next.

If it isn't, just relax! It means you're likely to be the only driver who's properly prepared to sit in traffic for hours without feeling thirsty or hungry. That sounds like a pretty good position to be in.

Either way, you're not ill. You might have a compulsion to be prepared before going out, but you don't need to worry about it. If you're unhappy feeling like you must have water with you, see what your doctor has to say about it. Otherwise, you're fine.

Most importantly of all, don't worry about it.

Take care,
froggie

First things first, go to your doctor if he says there is nothing wrong your ok. If you have phsycological disorder where you fear interaction with the community this can cause anxiety issues. First mellow out man and get a grip on it. I always say, put an H on your chest and handle it. It sound like you have a fear of being sick which causes you to be in your mind. You may have an unbalanced chemical reaction in your brain. Your nuerological pathways are causing you to freak out and play on your own fear. Go to doctor and tell him.

Just do what I do... realize that people are completely nuts and this world is a very scary place, chock full of tools and intellectual retards that lack the gene for common sense, and for that reason alone... never go out if it is at all possible.

I hate people! YUCK!
