I don't think any software do that. There are so many sotwares do that (vedors claim that). I think instead of free the ram (though it shows amount of ram recovered) it hangs system.

Without installing any software you can speed up the system speed by increasing virtual memory.

Go to "My Computer" properties > advanced > virtual memory> select custom size put actual memory X 1.5 as minimum and Actual memory X 3.

If you have less disk space on C:, Select D: drive and do the same.

And do reguler clean up.

When the computer first starts up press F1 or F2 or DELETE. This will take you into SETUP. From there look for Memory and or CPU options. You can "overclock" the RAM frequency which will effectively increase your CPU speed. Don't get too carried away, as your system will become unstable. Be sure to note where the CMOS clear jumper is on your main-board in case your settings are too out of whack, jumping CMOS will clear those settings and put them back to default. Overclocking can damage your system from excessive heat. As far as software, whoever claims to be able to increase your RAM speed by many times is simply full of it....

There is a popular tool called Registry Mechanic that will help clean up your machine to run a bit faster, but there is no real way to increase computer speed by leaps and bounds unless you upgrade your processor/ram/or other components.

i use a program called system mech pro6 from http://www.iolo.com this is a good program and will tweak your system, but will not give any massive increase in speed your thinking about. best idea is to spend a few bucks and buy more RAM

If it were possible, it would be built into your OS already. Doesn't exist the way you described it.
