IF we ever had to, should men and women both be drafted? The common feminist response is that nobody should be drafted, and I agree with this when that luxury is possible. However, from time to time a nation has no choice but to draft people to fight. So, if our backs were ever to the wall, should women be drafted along with the men.

Women should NOT be drafted for the following reasons:

1) If all adults are on the battlefield, no one is minding the children or the homeland.

2) Men would become overly protective of the women, especially if a relationship begins, and be distracted from tasks at hand.

3) If bunked together the men and women would be prone to sex. This would, undoubtedly, lead to unwanted pregnancies and coat-hanger abortions.

4) Funding would increase dramatically.

5) If a man is captured he is prone to physical abuse and death. If a woman is captured she is prone to physical abuse, death, and rape, (even gang rapes).

6) One man can impregnate many women, but one women can only be impregnated once at a time. A diminishing of women would mean a diminishing of population.

7) Men can go months without sickness, but women are guaranteed to be ill, at least, once a month. The higher percentage of women in the force, the less reliable the health of the force is.

Many nations have, at one time, allowed women in combat. All but Israel have banned this for the listed reasons and more.

i think of that girls folk would desire to get carry of the choice to sign a draft card like they do right here. in the event that they desire to be drafted then sign the cardboard at sixteen or 17 years previous like the lads do. surprising now united states of america of america does not have a mandatory draft. some women folk are plenty extra able then men to do specific jobs. I actual have seen women folk mechanics and girls folk truck drivers...it is not any enormous deal.

Other countries successfully require that women serve in the military. It makes complete sense to teach women to defend themselves and their country. The reality is that women make better supervisors in the military. A few years ago I saw a program on one of the cable learning channels about how the Israelites use women Sgts. to train soldiers because it's good psychology. A male soldier will try harder to please a woman, and will try harder to outdo anything she can do. They've also found women make good listeners and sometimes male soldiers need that too when they're so far from home at such a young age.

Young men of military age are also at their sexual peak. When you add young women to the equation, hormones will often take over. The most recent news I heard a few days ago is the military is realizing men are better suited for war. Not just physically, but psychologically too, and that's not meant as an insult to women.

It is wise for women to be trained to defend their own country, but I don't agree with their going into hand to hand combat. If I were a 175 lb. wounded soldier, I wouldn't want my life to depend on whether a 120 lb. woman could carry me to safety. There is a place for women in the military, but not on the front lines.

No one should be drafted. No nation ever has need to draft people to fight, nor will some ever fight no matter what you try to force upon them.

In Israel women are expected to do their time in the military. Everyone is. This has not caused major upheaval in their society.

The only reason our backs would be to the wall would be the continued lies and crimes of Bush and his administration. In which case I will not feel obligated to draft anyone.. nor if called to serve would I. I would continue to call for the impeachment and trial for war crimes as well as the over 800 violations of US law Bush has made so far. (Supreme Courst says so.) The draft is never needed. To believe it is means you have been brainwashed by the nationalist fundamentalists who have had hold of this country since 9/11/01 when it comes out that Bush knew about this and did nothing so as to bolster support for his aggresive wars.. will you still think we need the draft? There were plenty of folks willing to join the military without a draft .. they won't be after the truth comes out about Bush and his fake war on terrorism.. it is really a war of aggession.. it is not to spread democracy.. or he would not be calling the legally democratically ELECTED Hezbollah a terrorist organization. (yes Hesbollah is a legally elected part of the Palestine government.. yet we don't like them so screw that the people said.. you have to do it over again.. so much for spreading democracy.)

Yes. If there is a draft - which I hope there isn't - I think that EVERYONE within the age limit should have the potential to be drafted. The U.S. army is disproportionately made up of lower class young men and women, and I see no reason why this will change unless the draft calls everyone, regardless of race, class, educational status/enrollment, or sex.

There is one member in all of the House and Senate who has a son in the armed forces. Maybe they wouldn't send our military off to die so easily if they knew their sons and daughters had an equal chance of being drafted?

Anyway, I believe that women should be drafted along with men. There is no reason that they shouldn't be.

Yes women should be subjected to the draft, there are any number of task their qualified to handle other than combat. But given the choice fight or flight, they'll stand and fight just like any man would, Women have stood and fought for a long time, so yes they should be drafted.

Not all men are physically and mentally strong. Likewise, not all women are physically and mentally weak. Being a man shouldn't be a reason to abjure liberty. Likewise, being a woman shouldn't be a reason to stay free. Whoever claim only men should be responsible for safety is probably out-of-mind feminists. Instead, just abolishing conscription is the best solution, if the world is democratic.

Why not? When a draft is call that usually means that we need all the people we can (usually). I don't think they belong in the front line but that doesn't mean we don't have other jobs too fill, so in response to the question, I don't want to be drafted nor did I want to sign up for it=(

I'm conflicted on this; I served my country in the Army and Air Force and during Desert Storm; At a time like this, NO ONE should be drafted to go no where; but to be honest, we're going in there in record numbers; the incentives for joining make them go in; still, that's a question that should be left to the people.
