Certain sections of the economy might well "grind to a halt" after all where would you do your shopping if everywhere was closed at the weekend. Bluewater would go bust.
The company I recently worked for has a system of 4 days working out of 6, that is Sunday is a standard day off, then you would work a 8h 45 min/Day for 4 days. Each week would have a scheduled day off starting on a Monday the following week the sdo would be Tuesday etc, seemed to work well, the only drawback is that you would be home when all your pals are at work.

If you really want to know: It adds up to seven the number of days in a week. Actually, it is compromise between wage slavery and a workforce that thinks it's made up of human beings and should be treated that way.
A 3/4 work week is available now. 4 -10 w/ 3 off or flextime where you work the times you want as long as they add up to 40 a week. I think you want less hours rather than less days and still get paid for 55 hrs work.

And work until late at night. Or just work 6 days a week, from 9 to 3:30.

But then if youre only working 4 days youre only being paid for 4 days. I say keep the 5 day week, at least youd have more to spend at the weekend!

I agree, why dont we have a months vacation like some europeans? They manage.
*i* believe is b.c this country was started by puritans, hard wroking god fearing people. Sunday wasnt a day off, as much as a day to worship. Saturday came about to have on day off.
Alot of crap in the country can be blamed on puritans.
i made myself work 3 days a week, and wow, i dont know how i ever did 5. You dont even have a 'work' day for appointments and crap.

I know I have often thought the same, I too think that we should have a three day weekend and a four day week and still get paid for a five day week. It would be much better.

Have you not heard of the four day working week.
Some employers are crying out for this system.
Why I hear you ask....well.
You do 10 hours a day (40 hour week) and look at all the overtime you could do on your 3 day week-end.

It is all about the bottom line. I agree we need 3 day weekends and 4 day work weeks. The Europeans have the right idea. They get a ton of vacation ("Holiday") time.
What good is the money if you cannot enjoy it!
