i have to show someone at work the right and wrong ways to answer the phone at work, i would like different examples of right and wrong ways to do this, if anyone knows of anythign that can help i would appreciated it emensly!!!!!!!

You could start off saying " Thank you for calling (company name), this is (your name), how can I help you. Easy, simple and short.

Answer the same way always, giving the company or office name:

Hello, this is XYZ Company, how may I help you?

or

ABC Industries, Andrea speaking, how may i direct your call?

choose something standard that works for your business.

would you like his phone number?
would you like to be transferred to her voice mail?
would you like to leave a message?

A wrong way would be to answer, "Hello", or "Yeah?" without giving the person on the other end any info as to whom they're calling.

A right way would be to answer, "Good morning, Yahoo (your place of employment), Lindsay speaking, how can I help you?"

It's important to be polite and to answer in a way that the person calling knows that they have called the right place.

Well, I'm Clerk and the one thing they ALWAYS told me was:

1) Identify your department or location
2) Do a simple greeting.
3) Identify yourself
4) And always ask " How can I help you" and if theirs anythings else
5) Then comes the "Thank you for calling, good bye"

* make sure you ALWAYS say good bye so the other person understands the phone call has ended.
