Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... so if you are having a shortened cycle one month and you have sex right after your period and you ovulate earlier than day 14 than yes, there is a chance of getting pregnant. They only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not.
My husband and I tried for 1 year and had no luck....the first month that I began using the book I realized that my timing was WRONG!. We got pregnant that very first month and I am now due Feb 2, 2007. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

My husband and I have been TTC for about 2 years, no luck yet but we contacted a doctor (RE) and they showed us all the different ways to help us get pregnant! Some ways are very pricey but there are some not so expensive! Just call a fertility clinic or something like that so they can run tests on both of you! Good Luck and Babydust!

Walker:

Don´t worry. This are the facts. You should have sex in your 14 day after you start you menstrual cycle. That´s your fertile day. You can take you teamperature and do a log, your tem rises when you are ouvulating. Still, in that date you have 20-25% do get pregnent. You need to stop all anticonception pills and that sort of stuff. If after 2 years of unprotectet sex you still don´t have a pregnancy then you should consult a doctor.

To get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.

After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your fiance to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.

After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.

Get your fiance to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

First don't listen to people who tell you to quit trying and you'll get pregnant. Second, start charting your cycle and becoming aware of the way that you body works. Give it a couple of more months, then see a doctor.

However, some fertility doctors will not work with couples who are not married.

Good Luck

I agree with everyone's comments on get married first! Maybe spend your time and energy on planning the wedding. Then get married, and after all the stress of planning the wedding is over with, then you'll be relaxed and get pregnant. Good luck to you.

Don't listen to people who say get married first. There are many reasons why people don't get married, thats your own business. Also that book "taking charge of your fertility is really good. Just relax and it will happen when it is meant too!
