It is the standard response for Israel. Just like blacks & mexicans call people racists, gays call people homophobes, etc. They can't stand to see the truth pointed out to them, so they name call. Oh by the way, when they do that you know you've won the argument.

Israel's tactic of calling anyone who they don't agree with an 'anti-semite' is what allows them to commit genocide against the Palestinians and extort money and technology from the US.
Fortunately people are finally starting to get wise to this game. Someday the true nature of Israel will be understood by everyone and the little song and dance 'anti-semitism card' won't help them anymore.

You posed a pretty dangerous question there :o) But to partially answer, I know what you mean, by the meaning of the word "anti-semite" solely meaning "anti-Jewish". You're right though, the word "semite" originally referred to a language family, mainly of Middle Eastern origin. It wasn't until the late 19th century that term "anti-Semitism" was used in reference specifically to anti-Jewish sentiment. After all Judaism, Christianity and Islam are all considered "Semitic religions".
