In general, here's what is a relatively good description of where these folks want to go with their thoughts and acts:

"Ideology and Goals

The principal stated aims of al-Qaeda are to drive Americans and American influence out of all Muslim nations, especially Saudi Arabia; destroy Israel; and topple pro-Western dictatorships around the Middle East. Bin Laden has also said that he wishes to unite all Muslims and establish, by force if necessary, an Islamic nation adhering to the rule of the first Caliphs.

According to bin Laden's 1998 fatwa (religious decree), it is the duty of Muslims around the world to wage holy war on the U.S., American citizens, and Jews. Muslims who do not heed this call are declared apostates (people who have forsaken their faith).

Al-Qaeda's ideology, often referred to as "jihadism," is marked by a willingness to kill "apostate" —and Shiite—Muslims and an emphasis on jihad. Although "jihadism" is at odds with nearly all Islamic religious thought, it has its roots in the work of two modern Sunni Islamic thinkers: Mohammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab and Sayyid Qutb.

Al-Wahhab was an 18th-century reformer who claimed that Islam had been corrupted a generation or so after the death of Mohammed. He denounced any theology or customs developed after that as non-Islamic, including more than 1,000 years of religious scholarship. He and his supporters took over what is now Saudi Arabia, where Wahhabism remains the dominant school of religious thought.

Sayyid Qutb, a radical Egyptian scholar of the mid-20th century, declared Western civilization the enemy of Islam, denounced leaders of Muslim nations for not following Islam closely enough, and taught that jihad should be undertaken not just to defend Islam, but to purify it."

....the only dialogue sought by Al Qaeda is the worldwide conversion to Salafist Islam (which is the literal interpretation of the Quran). If you do not wish to engage in that dialogue, you can talk to the sword, or bomb, or gun.

Do you want the menace settled in this manner? This is the equivalent of a human 'cockroach', hiding, scheming, planning, surviving, adapting, while all other species suffer the effects of time and disease and environment. They rely on attrition to subdue their enemies and are willing to wait a LONG time before they strike, lulling their enemies into complacency (which is EXACTLY what's happened in the U.S.).

Would you want dialogue with someone looking to kill you? What would that dialogue be? If you could DO (rather than SAY) something about this threat, what would you DO? Would you talk your way out of conversion or death? Or would you protect yourself against a force and ideology that wishes to subjugate you and commandeer your life, permanently.

Is that a good settlement? Sound fair?

Their demands are simple. Complete control of the world by islamic fundalism and death of all that do not conform.

The dialogue would go something like this:

Liberal appeaser: Can't we just all get along?
Al-qaeda: No, die you infidel.
Liberal appeaser: But we'll give you stuff so we get along?
Al-qaeda: We will have all of that when you die, you infidel.
Liberal appeaser: Please?
Al-qaeda: No, die you infidel.
Liberal appeaser: What are you doing with that knife?
Al-qaeda: I am going to cut off your head, you infidel.
Conservative Bad-*** (fictional character): Bang (shoots gun killing Al-qaeda). To protect my country and way of life I had to eliminate the wackos.
Liberal appeaser: Why did you do that? Didn't you see he only had a knife to my throat and you used a gun. You used excessive force and should be tried like a criminal. And you were thinking racist thoughts as you pulled the trigger, so it will be a hate crime. And Bush lied, and people di............
Conservative Bad-*** (fictional character): Bang (shoots gun killing liberal appeaser). To protect my country and way of life I had to eliminate the wackos.

(Note: this is only fiction. Do not try this at home even if the liberal appeasers are annoying you severely.)

the basic demands of AL qaeda are 1. withdrawal of support to authoritative governments in middle east by the USA 2.with drawal of support to Israel by the USA .3.establishment of Islamic states. i feel it is time to start a dialogue with that terrorist organization. nothing is impossible. Britain talked to Irish republic army which engaged in war , Maoists in Nepal came into main stream. janatha vimukti perumuna which caused for 2 insurgencies in sri lanka now supporting the ruling party. ltte a terrorist organization in srilanka also participated in peace talks. i feel it is right time to start a dialogue with al qaeda by UN so that there would be peace in middle east and the entire world.

That is unlikely to happen. Their demands are a destroyed USA. They may have a point with the US troops on holy land (Saudia Arabia) but that's the only thing I'd be willing to concede. If that's all they were after they'd have made it much clearer with a lot less "Death to America" chanting.

Al-Queda's demands are for all non-Muslims to convert or die. They also said that there is no room for compromise. So dialogue has been a bit tough.

Theorectically, they have demands, but they are so far-reaching and unable to be practically granted (at least by the US) that they are not really negotiable. A terrorist who demands something you cannot give is not really interested in talking about it...

You might one to look closer to home sunshine. Al-Queda is a myth and there is no proof as of yet, that it exists as a formidable force.
