My ex father in law was a commercial fisherman on the Arkansas River and regularly hauled in catfish at about 100 pounds. Your catfish, while definetly not a norm, is also not totally abnormal.

I'll pass . It doesn't get much better after you've seen a man riding the dorsal fin of a great white shark ..

If it fits in the fish's mouth, that's where they will go. That's the rule. Koi are opportunistic - therefore those fish were just quick snacks.
