I was just listening to some old cds of "Bread". He was very talented. Where is he now and what's he doing?

It almost ironic you asked this question...heard one of Bread's songs yesterday and was wondering the same...Wikipedia states he put out the songbook in 2002 (which I remember), but not more up to date info seems to be around. Also found this 'seventies'-type website, but no date shown as to when he did this interview. You're so correct in saying how talented he is!

After Bread split up, he released several solo albums and in 1977 composed the theme song for the Oscar-winning film The Goodbye Girl.

Gates' distinctive singing voice and boy-next-door good looks helped ensure his popularity. However, many of his songs have been successfully covered by other artists, including "If" (covered by Telly Savalas) and "Everything I Own" (covered by, among others, Boy George).

Having spent several years out of music altogether, Gates returned to the spotlight in the 1990s, and is still writing and performing. His album The David Gates Songbook, released in 2002, featured several new songs.
