Burning movies to a DVD format isn't as simple as drag and drop. You have to author DVDs. I can tell you of two good freeware programs that will do it but it depends on the format of the video.

If it's an MPG then you're almost there. SimpleDVD http://simpledvd.honzakov.net/ will created the DVD structure for you (that is build the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directories for you). It can do this pretty quick.

Any other video format needs to be converted. The easiest to work with is AVI, DivX and XviD. You can use AVI2DVD http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareAvi2Dvd.html to build an ISO image file that you can easily burn using most standard burning programs.

Some dvd players don't play burned dvd's or burned cds. Maybe you should try putting another burned disc in & see if that works. If it does, then I guess the prob is the dvd you just burned. Good luck!

What file format is the movie? If it is an avi file then I also suggest Nero. You may need to download the K-Lite codec pac before you burn it, your player may not be able to read the coding. Bin and cue files need to be placed on a CD-R.

you will need to convert it, it is probably a Divx or Xvid format , load it into Nero and covert to dvd, copying it direct to disk will not change it's format

does it work on your computer irrespective of the software you use?

If you can, get Nero burning ROM. I have never had issues using the software.
