My husband is addicted to World of Warcraft. He plays hours at a time (6pm - 12 or 1am on weekdays - more on weekends) and he says he makes money playing, is this possible? or is he just saying that so he can play?

I heard from my boyfriend that some players will play a character to "earn" maximum in-game money, and will "sell" those in-game money for real cash. Apparently, ( dunno if its true ) its supposed to be illegal and an offense that can get a player banned from the game.

So... yes it IS possible to play and earn... but how they exactly do it i dont know. The boys have a totally alien lingo when they talk about these games... ((puzzled))

It's possible to do this, however your husband might be getting himself in trouble if Blizzard finds out. When you log onto the game you agree to a EULA that states that you are not allowed to sell things outside of in-game, granted it's unlikely that he will be getting caught, but I don know a few people who did get caught and had their accounts suspended.

So to answer your question, yes it's feasibly possible for someone to "Make" money while playing WoW, is it time wise, is it a good investment of time... well unless he's pulling in about 300 dollars for all those hours played, I'd say get him a better hobby or even better report him yourself to blizzard maybe that'll get him to stop playing.

I have never heard that you make money by playing the "World of Warcraft". But I might be wrong.

That is possible. Some people make money in game and then sell it outside on like ebay or something for real cash. But that still doesn't justify playing so often.

yes it is possible to make money of online MMO. I used to sell gold when I played ultima online and made over 2k selling gold. However I played a lot so he needs to figure out what is more important the game or his family. At that time I lost my girlfriend due to the amount of time I spent playing...

If he's making real money, he'll probably soon be banned from the game. They track people that sell "gold" from the game, and ban the accounts.

yeah, that is possible. my friends are doing the same just like your husband. because its a team or group game so its optional for them if they want to do betting money whoever wins the game. thats how he earns money & it depends on how much is their deal.

it is absolutely possible, but I would guess that he's just saying that so that his playing doesn't seem wastefull.
