I would water it at least once a day. The most important factor, often overlooked by homeowners when laying sod, is to use a lawn roller to make sure that the sod is in contact with the soil underneath. If it is not in contact, the roots will not have an opportumity to get established in the soil underneath and the grass will die.

This is my favorite lawn care website:

Good luck with your lawn.

Sod should be kept constantly wet for the first two weeks. This will give the roots a chance to grow and set the sod. I would guess that twice a day with a good soaking should do the trick. If you are in a hot area with dry hot winds, you may have to water more. Just remember to keep it wet for about two weeks. It would not hurt to put some "Starter" fertilizer on it either. That would give it a boost start!

Sod requires about an 1 inch of water per week during the Sping/Summer growing season. Less during the fall season.

As always the answer to this question depends on your weather and climate. Bottom line tho, is the importance of not letting the roots dry out - period.
