This is a matter of opinion, but I consider roses a hardy flower species. Most people consider roses very feminine and they are the favorite flowers to give on Valentine's Day.

Good luck with your flowers.

Lilies are beautiful and feminine and easy and hardy. I like Oriental, Orienpets, and Trumpets best, but Asian can be nice too. Roses are fragrant, beautiful, colorful and usually hardy, and I think feminine, especially the ground cover roses in pinks. Peonys seem feminine to me since they are so pretty and ruffly and fragrant and they are hardy and easy. Clematis come in so many types and colors and they are usually hardy, usually repeat blooming and can be so feminine. I'm recently crazy about the Gauras - have three white ones in a barrel half and they are amazing, hardy, full of flowers and very outstanding. Then the pink Gauras are just as amazing in their way, but maybe more feminine - very pretty and extremely hardy and require little water. I'm sure I've left some of my favorites out, but happy gardening. This is a great time for it.

I was given an orchid many years ago by a woman that thought they were the most beautiful flower in the world. I found them very easy to grow and the blooms can last more than a month.

Bleeding heart (Dicentra sp.) Ferny, lacy leaves, almost Victorian blooms, very sturdy.

The first thing I thought of, though, was the shrub Pieris japonica- not just the flowers, but the whole plant. Graceful form, with beautiful glossy green whorls of leaves, and blooms with brilliant white flowers near the end of winter, a welcome sight in the coldest darkest part of the year. It's beautiful all the year, even if it's not blooming at that time.

It's not really a flower but does have a flower that blooms on it. Hostas in my garden seem to weather evertything from not watering to hot days. Another to me is the Day Lilly. I have had several plants and they grow beautifully and come back every year.

Roses

Clematis, honeysuckle, coneflower, shasta daisies, columbine, black-eyed-susans.

To me, roses are masculine. Reason I think this is because my DD and FIL both love to grow roses.
