I have a sister who is 11-years-old...I'm 20, and our brother is 21...I'm in college, and she and my brother live at home with our mother...the thing is, whenever I'm home and spend time with my sister, I notice that she only plays with her white Bratz dolls or the light-skin dolls...she's very dark-skinned because her father (who my mother divorced not too long ago) is dark...but my brother and I are medium-toned like out mother...I'm assuming our father was also....he and my mother divorced when I was about 4, and I don't remember him too much..........anyway...I've also noticed that my sister made her Avatar on Yahoo light-skinned with light eyes....I keep trying to get her to embrace her dark skin, but it seems useless...especially since she's the darkest one in the family know...any suggestions? I know it's because the media paints a picture of light as right and black as whack.....and I'm running out of ideas....

she's probably just around "light" skinned people so she see herself that way. No matter how she sees herself it is fine..everyone has a different perception of themselves which is not always bad...

Tell her no need to care about her skin colour. The most important thing is encourage her to study hard and be a smark girl in the future. If you are smart, no one will look down upon you. Right?

Tell her that Bush is white and he is very evil. Remind her that he is responsible for many deaths on 9-11 and during Hurricane Katrina, as well as in Iraq.
Maybe then she'll see how evil whitey is and will be proud of being a woman of color.

it's a face make her look in the mirror and see who she really is here's the first thing you do tell her to say all the good things about her self in the mirror than the bad than after bad talk to her about them than do the same for you tell her the negatives about you and let other people tell her two and compliment her on her skin not just you make other people do it to.this should work i cus i take a sociality class and we see how the mind works and stuff

Burn all her dolls. Dont let her watch TV, read magazines, use the internet, wear sketchers, go to the mall or listen to the radio. and convince her that it is 1976.

talk to her and tell her whats most important is what she has within......no one will hate her for her colour.....not all people are white.......evrything comes in differnt colours and types......so nothing to worry about.....she'll be fine
even people who are white try to tan themselves....its just that we always think of things that we dont have and never realise the values of those we already have
