Commercial shampoos contain lots of irritants. I would stick to a product from Neal's Yard or a shampoo base from a reputable company like Aromantics and add Roman Chamomile or lavender to it to stop the itching.
Shampoos also strip the hair of grease which can cause your sebaceous glands to go into overdrive trying to compensate. Also may of the products supposed to help dermatitis contain additives which can cause it.

A client of mine who has itchy eczema of the scalp keeps his hair short and does not wash it. After 6 weeks, your hair should get into a natural balance and stop being so greasy. Another friend with long hair does the same and her hair never looks dirty. Occasionally she washes it in water only.

I would suggest a vsit to a homeopath. This may involve dietary changes.

I have tried aromatherapy on this condition but with no success.
Hope this helps

(Seborrheic)Try t-gel shampoo, found in any drugstore in the USA. (I hope you live here). If you cannot afford the name brand, the store brand is usually the same thing, but much cheaper. Use it everyday until the condition clears, then 2 or 3 days a week to keep it cleared. Another suggestion is apple cider vinegar. Just put some on your scalp and rub it all over as you would shampoo. Then rinse it off. One thing that worked for my son's cradle cap--is listerine mouthwash. Don't ask me why, I just know it worked when nothing else would. Hope one of these works for you, I know how frustrating scalp problems can be.

Ask your doctor for Betnovate Scalp Application - contains betamethasone. Use in conjunction with Espa Pink Hair and Scalp mud. Very soothing and effective. Perhaps when the condition has calmed down a bit, you could try Indian Head Massage as this is very good for acheiving healthy hair, it is also very relaxing which is beneficial as this condition is bought on by stress.

Try dentinox, baby shampoo for cradle cap. Long shot, but you never know. My 14 yr old uses it, his scalp is kept clear although he doesnt have such a serious condition.
