my college hostel building, faculty building, main building all have a connected lan system with a server at the main building. my problem is that my files or net browsing is not secure as teachers, students and others can see what i am doing. they can control my pc remotely
most of them can see what i am doing . because of this everything is
open and insecure .

Run some personal firewall (like: Zone Alarm) and it will keep you away from unwanted incoming connections. If you want to secure you trafic while it is flying over Internet then you need to use some thing like vpn (like ViPNet VPN).

Find your network security setup wizard, here in windows, and go in and set up a firewall, and whatever else you need to secure your system.. good luck
