Is it because sub-conciousnely they know they are wrong and feel they have to call you names to make them feel better? Now I respect people who back up there political arguements with facts, not propaganda.

They launch personal attacks because they don't have any facts or logical arguments to use.

Conservatives do the same thing. Personal attacks aren't limited to a single political view point, and your generalization is nothing more than a crude attack in the same manner, which is what makes it so ironic.

But, people do this because they're such an extremist they've often left behind most of their rationality (liberal and conservative). Since they're now preaching dogma and following an ideology, its become a faith system for them, and faith is beyond scrutiny (in religion and politics). Therefore, you're putting ideology up against ideology and it descends into personal attacks through immaturity.

They know that they cannot beat you with facts and logic so they have to hope that by making the argument emotional, by becoming personal, you will lose your ability to stick to facts and logic and thus they will have a chance to beat you. Notice how they always change the subject and avoid answering questions directly, if at all? I hear what you're saying about backing up arguments with propaganda - a buddy of mine who is a misguided liberal tried to back up his anti-Patriot Act arguments with the story of a guy who's car was broken down so he had to take a cab to work. The cab got stopped and was found to be full of explosives. The guy was jailed along with the cabdriver, allegedly under the Patriot Act, and supposedly held without any charges being made against him. We went on and on about this until my friend admitted it actually happened in IRAQ. Iraq is not subject to the Patriot Act - this had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PATRIOT ACT. My "friend" deliberately misled me with a totally false argument because he knew he had no real arguments against the Patriot Act.

This is how liberals think & act. Any method is acceptable for them to win. Kind of like militant Islam.

Because they play on the weakness of predictable people claiming to be god loving. Conservatives are easy to manipulate and that is why they are conservative. Conservatives think god will take care of everything; they are cringing milksops that whine about being picked on. They can dish it out but can't take it. Conservatives do not know what the word means they just attach it to what they hear on talk radio shows. Conservatives are sheep led to the slaughter like the ones coming back from Iraq in body bags and as amputees. God hates people but conservatives are the first to suck up to god and his homicidal spirit.

Please do not be mistaken my friend but both sides of the coin are guilty of this.

The easiest thing to do is verbally attack a person for their views that are in conflict of your own.

The hardest thing to do is gleam valid information from both sides of the story to find the closest thing to truth that is available.

People need to realize no one side is absolutely correct. We need to stop the petty and extremely immature squabbling amongst ourselves.

Divide and Conquer...we are already divided so what does that lead to next?

Ummmmmmmm cause facts dont matter to conservatives.
You dont have a new thought until Fox News gives it to you in the morning. I watch Fox News because i think its ******* hilarious and I have seriously noticed this pattern.Conservative talking points change daily based on that mornings fox and friends "news program" So....it is more fun to launch personal attacks on all the puppet people who still support this war, because no amount of facts will change your mind, because you will just call it propaganda.

Oh, come on now!
I can't believe you fixed your mouth to verbalize an out-and-out lie.
Conservatives have worked that tactic down to a Bible-thumping, family values-touting, election-stealing, lying president of the United States-supporting, war-starting science!

Let's be honest (oh, sorry that is tough for many of you). People on both sides of the political spectrum fall into personal attacks - Libs and Cons...

its hard to say all liberals do that (no, you didn't say all, but your question is phrased like a stereotype), but in most cases when it is done, anyone with a brain can tell its a death rattle, commonly towards the beginning or end of losing a campaign.
