I agree with the others who say you should be checked by the Dr. as this doesn't sound normal.

I've had an IUD for 9 years. The first one had to be changed about 2-3 years ago because I constantly spotted. It was switched to Mirena IUD and i love it...i never have a period anymore.

I have an IUD and have not had any issues with it. Has your Dr checked it by ultrasound to make sure it is still in place? I read a lot of things on the Internet that scared me about the IUD but I have been very pleased with mine.

Well I have had mine for about 4 years now and most are good for 5, then need replaced.
At first yes I had terrible cramps and sharp pains, they came on very sudden at times. Sometimes this is "normal", but to be safe Contact your OB and let them know what is going on. They will most likely do an ultrasound on you and will be able to see that it is okay or if it needs to be redone.
Hope this helps!! Have a good one!

I have an IUD and have had no problems. My sister had the same symptoms you're having and when she went to go have it taken out she had to have it surgically removed. I would definitly see a dr if I were you. Hers was just in there crooked.

I just had one put in in June and I had awful pains for the first couple months. Mine did get better but I was thinking at one point that it wasn't worth it. You have to determine what you are willing to go through pain wise; I doubt that there is something going wrong but if you are worried you should contact your doctor.

Have you checked to make sure your string is still there? If not, it could be that your IUD became dislodged and has worked its way up into your uterus and has become embedded. You should call your ob/gyn.
