We have to do a research project on a country. I was given England as my country to study. We have to include the Capital, the language(s) spoken, the name of the leader, a map of the country, and then choose 10 other things that we think are interesting about this country(I.E Holidays celebrated, what flag looks like Ect ect ect) Can anyone help me? I can get the first part, but can someone help me on the 10 interesting things part? Or at least give me some hints/ ideas about what I should choose to use for this section?

You're speaking to a native:

The architecture. The buildings and the history behind them, the stores. There are so many amazing boutiques in England. It has its own sense of style, it's much more relaxed. It's ecomonically friendly, with the constant use of public transportation, there are so many interesting things. Just pick some good angles that haven't been used as often.

England? And you are stuck?

Okay. The Cotswolds....forested and fairytale tale like are in England that supports cottage industries. Manchester...the top of the industrial area. Piccadilly Circus and the unique shopping it provides. The Lake District...popular for hikers/college students who backpack, full of unique bed and breakfasts. The National Trust...their death duties and taxes became so high that to maintain estates homes have been donated to the National trust and opened to the public for tours. Boxing Day, December 26 and the famous crackers. Guy Fawkes Day. Famous people like Winston Churchill. The whole history of the Kings. The War of the Roses. Arthur's Camelot. Brighton and the building of the promenade. Bath, the city of old roman baths where the Haute Ton used to spend a mini season. Punting on the Thames. Shakespeare and the Globe Theater. Goodness...there are so many things to choose from. High Tea. The Christmas pudding tradition. London Bridge and the Tower. Oliver Cromwell and the Clearances and civil war. The Metaphysical poets. The Romantic poets like Byron who inspired an entire decade of fashion and hair styles. Cricket. Have fun. Hope this gives you a few ideas anyway.

I'd have to say Beezer hit the nail on the head. Also, it's the site of three religious uprisings. First, the Old Celtic religion was supplanted by Roman Catholicism, and later Roman Catholicism was replaced by the Anglican Church.

A quick way to find "interesting" things is to think about things you would like to visit: Stonehenge, Big Ben, etc... Also, if you really can't find anything, just do a www.google.com search:

"England, interesting facts" or "England, places to visit".
(some teachers may consider this cheating).
