Greetings dude...I have built several drag and street cars and believe me ..all you have to do is go to your local speed shop. Look in the phone book under automotive parts and there should be a high perf section. They will have books and tips of there own. Also dont hesitate to join a online forum to get and share ideas. If you have a drag strip anywhere near you go on a nice weekend ..you will meet hundreds of good folks that will talk ALL DAY and be happy you asked questions.

Buy a book for a 96 Firebird. It'll teach you everything from how to change the axle, to do a tune up!!

David Vizard's book How to Build Horsepower does a good job of covering engine internal parts. A lot of the book is from the era of mechanical engine controls, though, so it won't cover fuel injection (or the type of manifold you have) and electronic ignition controls. But it will give you a good basic understanding.

http://www.highperformancepontiac.com is a great publication and has several articles every month on F-body cars...Firebirds/Camaros.

Pontiac Enthusiast is also another good publication.
