drove manual trans cars until I got married.
Now we have only automatics.

There are good and bad about each.

For sports cars or weekend cars I prefer manual.

For everyday driving: automatic.

Manuals do bring small 4 cylinder cars to life though.

I learned on a standard, took driver's ed in an automatic, drive standard for 8 years, and then bought an automatic, but I got an automatic that allows manual shifting. The VW I bought calls it TipTronic. Best of both worlds!

I have one of each. I love the standard. The next car I get will definitely be standard. I don't see what all of the fuss is about. It really isn't difficult at all to drive a standard.
