some days it takes for ever for it too start after work and i have heard pumping the gas is bad thing too do. any one have advice for me

needle seat in carburetor isnt shutting the fuel flow off, after you switch the engine off. resulting in flooding out the engine. try not pumping the gas when you go to start it. and if that doesnt work next time hold it to the floor and do it. never pump the gas pedal.

It could be a million things. Your best bet is to take it to a mechanic. You could check the battery terminals to make sure there isn't a lot of corrosion on them.
