Neither greatest nor worst. People tend to think of recent Presidents in extreme terms, since they are reacting out of experience and emotion rather than an understanding of History. But if you define great as the top 10%, it's clear he isn't in the top 4 or 5 and if the worst is bottom 4 or 5, same thing, he doesn't fit in there either. I think if you made an objective set of criteria (measures such as the economy and number of bills passed, which would rely on actual data) and fairly applied them to the entire group, he would surely be in the top half.

As for being an "average" President, that's still pretty darn good, since our system is set up to weed out most people.

One final note, it's probably not wise to attach labels like "best" or "worst" to historical figures for at least 50 years. For example regarding President Kennedy, there are sealed documents from the Warren Commission that cannot be unsealed until 2024 (or maybe even later). Who know what's in them. We often find out things later that aren't known at the present. Perhaps in time Bush's policies will be proven highly successful, and at present, since they are ongoing it is not appropriate to label them as unsuccessful. Even someone like Nixon is being judged much differently now than he was in the mid 70s, since it's clear that dispite doing some negative things for the country, the positive things he did probably outweigh the negatives (but it is clear he had to resign). Reagan is something of an anomoly in this sense since it is clear that hewas instrumental in bringing the Cold War to a close (and even though some will say the world is not totally safe, not living under the threat of Mutually Assured Destruction seems to be in improvement in quality of life).

Bottom like, Bush is a man trying to do his best in one of the most difficult jobs in the world.

Neither. great Presidents are few and lots between, yet rather do some thing to hold the union jointly. Lincoln fought th Civil war to maintain the country jointly. FDR delivered the country out of the worst financial tragedy ever and led us effectively by maximum of international war II. What has W carried out? long previous after the terrorists who destroyed the WTC and attacked the Pentagon (killing thousands of their attack) with the help of invading Iraq and Afgahnistan. Nevermind searching down the truthfully terrorist planners, we can circulate after their allies. Oh, and we are going to deliver in reservist extremely of truthfully troops. he's given us the branch of place of beginning protection. Does your place of beginning sense extra maintain? enable's ask the unlawful immigrants stepping into this us of a as what he thinks. Has he wiped sparkling up the mess from Hurircane Katrina? no longer yet? the place is Brownie as quickly as we want him? Oh and the deficit? He burned in the process the excess Clinton left like it replaced into continual. All in all, what a great interest he's comprehensive thus far. If history is basically, he would be remembered as a president who's father replaced into additionally a president.

George W. Bush; will be noted as the worse President these United States have ever witness. Just look at the chaos he and his administration has created domestically and internationally. The world has such hatred for America, simply because of him. The economy sucks, Katrina victims still living in substandard conditions, dead soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan, and now end to the Gulf War. Oh indeed what a great president; NOT!

Dude, you need a reality check. George Bush has set this country back 50 years. We were not in this much danger since the cold war. The economy is in the dump and the country is really the most divided that I have ever seen in my 60 years. He is probably the worst president I have ever seen. I wouldn't like what he has done if he had been a democrat.
