Morning sickness

How common is it?
Up to 70 percent of expectant mothers have nausea, sometimes with vomiting, early in pregnancy. Queasiness may be most noticeable in the morning, but it can occur at any time. Even if you aren't nauseated, you may develop aversions to certain foods, such as coffee and meat, partly because of their odors. As long as you continue to eat a healthy diet and get all the nutrients you need, food aversions aren't a cause for concern.

What causes it?
The exact cause is unclear, but pregnancy hormones that relax the stomach may play a role.

How long does it last?
It generally improves by the 13th or 14th week of pregnancy, but some women continue to feel queasy from time to time well into the second trimester.

How can you manage it?

Munch a few crackers before getting up in the morning.
Eat several small meals a day so that your stomach is never empty.
Avoid anything that causes nausea.
Drink plenty of liquids, especially if you've been vomiting. Try crushed ice, fruit juice or frozen ice pops if water upsets your stomach.
Try wearing a motion sickness band, which may relieve nausea by pressing on an acupressure point inside the wrist.
Suck on hard candy.
Try ginger, which has proved effective in combating morning sickness. Some ways to consume the spice include ginger soda or tea, gingersnaps or ginger in capsule form.

Unfortunately, no one is exactly sure what causes morning sickness but it would seem that the cause is a combination of issues related to the chemical changes your body is going through. Those changes include rapidly increasing estrogen and progesterone levels, an enhanced sense of smell and excess stomach acids. It has also been suggested that stress and fatigue that commonly accompany pregnancy also play a role.

One of the theories is that morning sickness is caused by the dominant hormone during pregnancy, progesterone. Progesterone has a "softening" effect on the muscles in the body. It is thought it helps prevent preterm labor by effecting the uterine muscles. It also effects other muscles, such as the stomach and intestines. The progesterone relaxes the workings of the whole digestive track which makes the elimination of bodily wastes slower which can lead to a slow emptying of the stomach which leads to excess stomach acids.

Another theory, and more widely accepted, is that morning sickness is caused by the buildup of hCG (human chorionic gonadotopin) in your system. hCG is produced after implantation takes place and continues to increase until about the 12th week of your pregnancy, at which point the levels of hCG starts to decrease. If you are lucky, this is when your morning sickness symptoms will start to decrease as well.

Morning sickness refers to the nausea and vomiting that some women have when they become pregnant. It is caused by the sudden increase in hormones during pregnancy. Although morning sickness is more common in the morning, it can last all day for some women.

It's generally accepted that the "purpose" of morning sickness is to expel any food that might be even remotely toxic to protect the fetus. Some studies have shown that women who avoided the foods, no matter how innocuous they seemed, that caused the morning sickness, could avoid the sick feeling.

it is just a hormonal change which occurs during pregnancy( the most authentic research so far) but the time duration varies with person to person some may get rid of it sooner and for others it may last through out their pregnancy, the cure is pretty simple "no to morning sickness tea" is an organic and really effective blend to cope with this agony. other things are also there but what I found the best is stated above.
