Try MaryJanice Davidson, Charlaine Harris, Christine Feehan, Shannon Drake or Maggie Shayne.

Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer are great. They are the first two books in her series. Twilight is focused on vampires (and humans of course) and New Moon is about werewolves, vampires, and humans. ;)

Charlaine Harris has a vampire series. But I've only read the first one. Dead Until Dark. Living Dead in Dallas. Club Dead. Dead to the World. Dead As A Doornail.

MaryJanice Davidson has a cute series of vamp books. The main character/vampire queen is named Betsy. They all start with "Undead &..." in the title. It's chick lit with a little sci fi twist. There are 5 (I think) books in the series. Each one is a pretty easy read.

Try Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's Saint-Germain books. They span multiple centuries, from ancient Egypt to the modern world. The first book in the series is called Hotel Transylvania. There's a good article on her and her books at http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/vampire_ebook_authors/114673

I don't know if you like vampire romance novels but if you do Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is ok. But right now i'm reading a book called Peeps by Scott Westerfeld and it's really good so far.

another good vamp series is Christine Feehan's carpathian series. it starts with Dark Prince and goes on from there. Also, if you like the Anita Blake books (which i love), check out her Merry Gentry series. it rocks too!
