I beg to differ with Ray. I'd say it's more like 50-50. This is a new and growing industry and neither is making any meaningful profit yet. Their strategies are to get to the necessary critical mass and it may very well be that only one company will be able to sustain profitability, depending on the number of subscribers. If that happens then the other one will be gobbled up.l

This will be like VHS and Betamax. One technology will win out over the other. Like that battle, the best one may not win.
I don't see the need for the winner to merge with the loser -- since they won't want their technology. What may happen is that the winner will buy out the loser, throw away their technology & use their bandwidth. But at that time, the loser will be distressed.

Good question. I have a satelite radio and have been wondering this myself.
I love the satelite radio. Regardless of what may happen to these companies, I'm convinced that satelite radio is here to stay.

I doubt it because both know if one goes under, the other one can get all the market share. Most likely scenario is that someone will buyout one of these companies.
