How would other people deal with this kind of attitude?

I have had 'friends' like this, although I rarely stuck around them long. I am a very easy-going person, but those personality types just rub me the wrong way. :( My son was married to a woman like that.

From my experiences with people who are like that, I would say to distance yourself from her. Good luck!

First at all, when somebody believe that know everything, really mean that he/she is an ignorant.Because we never will know everything. If this person is a master in one subject, does not give this person right to put others down,or embarrassing them. You can do two simple things : ignore this person at all (showing she is not important indeed), and never try to correct her (let her, to face her mistakes alone, without help). Finally you can finish the friendship and find others better, and happy friends.Good luck.If I am you,I should finish the friendship with this person.

Sounds like she has anger management issues. If she doesn't smarten up she's going to correct the wrong person one day & then she'll learn she doesn't know everything. And she'll learn it the HARD way. When you're an adolescent you can get away w/ that shite for awhile but once she's an adult she's gonna discover people aren't going to take her crap and beat her face in.

I have a friend who is just like that, and I pointed it out to her. Obviously she didn't like the sound of it, and was offended that I 'embarassed' her (no one was around at that time anyway), and she went off. That's the last of her, I've never heard from her since. You don't need people like this anyway in your life ;)

One year living like hell when i had a housemate like that. My only solution is to ignore her and shut myself in my room. it didn't solve the problems but sometimes by doing that, i can avoid unnecessary confrontation.

Tell her to adjust her attitude, and tell her why. Then make it clear that if she doesn't, then you will stop hanging out with her.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. When you're wrong, you're wrong. Tell her to grow up.
