What about the Toltec ruins, so advanced the ancient Aztecs thought it to be built by the Gods them selves.
An almost exact replica of ancient Rome, with the underground sewer system, full plumbing...
And all without knowing the Romans exist. I makes you wonder if maybe throughout time we are using less and less of our brains.
The Myans had math problems more advanced than we could hope to be. They came up with numbers so large, we have not
come up with names for them yet. And the calenders they made have been proven to be more advanced than the one we use today. So yeah... The ancient world is SOOOOO interesting

Rome and Greece, yes, they are amazing, but lets be real, nothing done by the mayans or the Mexicas (correct name for the aztecs) or any people in america comes even closer.

America was in the stone age when the Spanish people came. You could barely compare them to the peoples from Europe whom erected the megaliths, or to a extremely incipient middle eastern people, at the very beguining of Egypt or Mesopotamia.

In India, home of the Indus River Civilization, over 7000 years ago, the Dravidians built homes and cities that had the same regulation size of brick, weights and measurements! Indoor plumming...They had a very sophosticated medical system, performed surgeries. No slaves. Matrilineal government. No Monarchy. They were marine merchants and good agronomists. The decendants of these people live in Southern India today. On some of their ancient manuscripts, they had a special formula for cutting stone -- something that was placed on the stone to reduce the surface tension in the molecular structure. They built no elaborate temples, however. The Chola civilization(more recent decendants of the Dravidians about 700 years ago) in Tamil Nadu made very large temples. The Indus River civilizilation wasn't "discovered" until the 1920's... The Dravidians are said to predate other civilizations. Check it out...

Time, practice, and thought. It wasn't about money. It was about creating something great that you would always be known for.

Something that I found really interesting was that the ark that Noah built was supposed ot be engineered so that it could right itself even after being completely turned upside down. I guess that someone found this out in a study that they did with a model built with the dimensions of the ark represented in the bible. I don't know why they don't make ships like that today. It would probably be a good idea.

Pottery between the crafts is rather significant as most of the failings all of us understand right this moment on the subject of the classic Greeks come from depictions on a variety of pots that have been ample in those days. the full 2nd floor interior the Archaeological Museum in Athens is dedicated to this craft because of the fact the Greeks have been spectacular craftsmen between different issues.

I'm definitely amazed! They didn't have any of the modern technology we have but they were still amazing with math, science, and astrology. I can't believe when I look at some of the pictures of the Pyramid at Giza and stuff that people actually built that without the modern cranes and construction equipment we have today.

The result is amazing but so was the process. Some of these achievements were completed after decades and thousands of workers using stone cutters, wood and muscle.

Massive expenditure of manpower and lots of injuries and deaths (No OSHA back then.)
I agree - the buildings and structures they erected were awesome. But let's remember WHY they were built - to gratify some leader's pride, vanity, arrogance and desire to be recalled - and at what cost.

they're amazing because these structures were built with no modern technologies. they used manpower and ingenuity to do such feats. what's more amazing is we can't figure out how they built the pyramids.
