"The Motorcycle Industry Council estimates that at least 10 percent of all motorcycle owners in the United States are women, up from 8 percent in 1998. The number of female motorcycle operators is calculated at more than four million and is continuing to rise.

Close to 60 percent of female motorcycle operators in the United States are over forty years old. "

That's dirt and street :)

It is almost impossible to answer this question accurately. The last three years female rides have increased in numbers so fast that no studies can even become close to accurate. The last study I read stated about 1.5% of all motorcycle riders were females. However that study is over 10 years old.

In my travels I would say an average of 1 out of every 10 riders are female. that would place it at about 10%. Around Idaho the sports bikes are not as well liked as other areas but I have still seen 2 or three females on them. The rest of them are usually riding cruisers. I personally have taught three females to ride in the past 2 years.

PS. if that nice looking brunette on the black/gold low rider that i talked to by the new staples reads this and is single, i would like to talk more. She can find me on campus.

About 10% overall, not to dispute with (squekie), who is probably right as far as Harley-Davidson sales go. Women account for at least 10% of all new bike sales, as well.
