Lady and Son's manager just informed my blind friend that she and her guide dog may sit only by the door and that they may not go to all areas of the restaurant. The manager says she is not familiar with the ADA or Georgia law prohibiting such discrimination and/or "separate and unequal" treatment. Has this happened to anyone else?

Let me start by clarifying that I am a huge PD fan and that I am certain that SHE would welcome my friend. The front line at her restaurant, though, we can't be sure about, and they should be familiar with the ADA. I called myself the day after the incident with my friend. The woman who answered the telephone had told my friend she could have access to the front room only (bathrooms are in the back - she didn't answer a question about that) and she explained to me that that was so the guide dog wouldn't get "anxious" in a crowd. A different manager from Ms. Kelly (the manager to whom my friend spoke) assured me that the blind have access and that there is a table for my friend in the front, but did not answer my question regarding why the other manager gave my friend the answers she did.

You seem to be overgeneralizing based on one experience at one restaurant with one particular type of disability.

You are correct in that service animals are to be allowed in all parts of a restaurant that a customer would normally go.

When I read the state this incident I wasn't surprised. During our tour there we frequently witnessed practices that were in direct contrast to Federal Law and direct violations of civil rights. This was probably the worst state and is justifiably at the bottom rung of most any list starting with education. Guide dogs are trained to handle situations with other people around and are not released for use unless they meet this requirement for a host of reasons. Tell your friend to get an attorney and put Paula Deen's out of business. Let it be a warning to other practices. Georgia a nice place to visit but I would never want to live there.

confident! in spite of the fact that, there is not any longer a political occasion that may not. Labour's purpose replaced into to provide up reward like DLA and Attendance Allowance and if somebody required this money could now no longer settle for to them yet placed with the council to distribute as they seen in good shape....are you able to think of? confident, I agree there are scroungers and fraudlant claims yet this is nearly a grain of sand interior the sea to what the 'huge boys' are doing with tax evasion. i do no longer condone every person being cheating in spite of the fact that it rather is a relentless difficulty to the actual disabled that they might lose their reward. It has handed off to maximum of actual people interior the previous. there's an internet site you should Google..DDLG and circulate into the two ask of answer a question (sorry can no longer remember good element you should click directly to) and in case you circulate by those you have got a much extra appropriate concept of precisely what is going on.

If this is indeed true then the person should report it to the city, then the county, then the ACLU. The Americans With Disabilities Act protects the disabled and the restaurant will eventually be brought under investigation. Also, the person should alert their local news media. However, be sure you are not exaggerating and that you are telling the truth, otherwise this could come back to bit you in the behind!

Have you ever been there? It is incredibly busy and crowded. It's difficult to get around to "all areas of the restaurant" even for a sighted person. IF she was told that, it was probably for her own safety. I think I smell something fishy here......

Not that I know of...most places who are familiar will post a 'No pets, only service animal' sign.

when me and my friend ciara went in their they sed she wasnt allowed in cos she is a he-she. Wen they eventually let us in she was not allowed in the toilets or behind the till or into the grill area. She was forbidden to look staff in the eyes or handle the food. she was then thrown out for mistakenly performing oral on the manager
