It MATTERS. This is not a healthy relationship at this point in your life. Sexual or not, those six years that separate you at this point in your lives are very important years. You have not grown into the person you will be at 20 years old. I am not saying that you are not mature, but the next six years for you are going to be filled with events and experiences that will change and help you to become the adult that you will be when you are 20. The fact that this MAN is in a relationship with you at 14 years old is a big problem. He has missed a step somewhere in his maturing process and needs to go back and figure it out. I would say call him in 4 years, but I am afraid he is not a healthy person.

There could be reasons why you are so attracted to this guy;

1) He is more matured and acts more sensible as compared to your mates.
2) He is more sensitive to your feelings than guys of your age.
3) He seems more knowledgeable on every topic than guys your age.

But dear the age gap is too big considering your age. If you had been twenty and he thirty I wouldn't have bothered because then you would have been an adult. As at now you are still considered as a minor by every country on this planet. And he could be charged for taking undue advantage of a minor even if you kiss.

Now he may not be interested in sex but can you say so in a years' time? Ask him to wait till you are a bit matured before you start dating and see if he can wait that long. Could be his test for all the love he claims to have for you.

There is a tremendous emotional, physical and mental age gap between 14 and 20.
So in my opinion, yes the age difference does matter even if no sex is involved.
Perhaps you should seek out maybe a sixteen year old at the most and you should both be on the same page or approximately.

You'll probably get the same answers... yes it does matter. You should be out with people your own age. You're in high school (or should be) and he's out of school (or should be)...

...And while he is waiting for the sex is he going out with his "friends"? Are you sure?

it may not be based on sex, but i personally do not see anything you two would have in common. he is able to go places you cannot get into. in the end you will end up feeling left out and more like a child than you did before you went in. i ask you to leave it alone, if you must have him around, just be friends.

yes, age matters at your age. a 14 yr old should be dating someone their own age; as should a 20 year old.

I bet you get the same answers this time. I'll also bet the answer is "YES! It does matter is he is 20 and you are 14."

that's a little creepy - a 6 year difference wouldn't matter much if you were both in your twenties but at that age it's not right
