don't listen to all of those people telling you to avoid the question. avoiding the question will only make him curious and more likely to try to find out on his own. everybody wants to believe the 10 is way too young to be asking questions like this, but it is not. i am a postpartum nurse and our youngest "mother" has been 12. and lately we have had more and more 13 and 14 year olds. if you want to try to help prevent him from becoming a father to young or contracting a disease, answer his question. you can look up information on the internet or better yet talk to his doctor and have his doctor talk to him. you can also go to planned parenthood and get some information to tell him and maybe have them talk to them with you there. you should be happy that he feels comfortable enough with you to ask you the question. the real trouble comes when kids feel like they don't have anyone that they can talk to. then they just do whatever.

if you are not his guardian, i would say NOT to tell his parents because he obviously doesn't feel like he can talk to them and he may not trust you again after that if they get upset with him. it is very important that he has a responsible adult that he can talk to about these things.

there are a lot of options for you. i know it may be uncomfortable for you but please don't let your uneasiness stop you from helping him. good luck.

Tell him that this question isnt your place to answer, and that you dont feel comfortable talking about that with him. If he is really curious he should ask his parents to have the sex talk with him. Talk to your brother/sister about it, unless you are the guardian, then its your time to talk about it. This could prevent him from having children at age 13 or something like that.

Just be honest but not totally graphic.

Just say something like it feels nice and warm, don't be embarrased about it.

Like when i was little and asked what does sex feels like my parents told me something like it feels nice and at the end it feels tingly. This was as much information as i needed at the time. They didn't lie but didnt tell me too much either.

10 yrs old, how does this question come up in the first place? It is unusual for a 10 yr. old to be asking such questions, I would get to the bottom of why he's asking them.

tell him you'll let him know when he is old enough. OR tell him the truth, after discussing this with his parents/guardians first.
it is better to learn these things at home through discussion, than to end up in trouble by experimentation.

Tell him that's something he isn't supposed to know for a few more years yet. Then take him outside to play catch or something.

Tell him to ask his parent(s). Better yet, tell him that you will ask his parents for him next time they are around. If he doesn't want to, ask him why. I think he is trying to make you uncomfortable.

Nothing. He is to young to be thinking about that sort of thing. You tell him that he will find out when he is way older. He is way to young.
