I have a 6 month old baby girl, i gained a great deal of weight during my pregnancy(65 pounds) I have already lost 50 pounds. It seems much harder this time around. When I had my first baby (7 yrs ago) The weight just melted off in two months, without me even doing anything! I heard so much about how when you breast feed, it is easier to get back into shape! BS! I cant get these last 15 pounds off, some women have told me that after you stop, it comes off faster. I know that all women are different, but is there some kind off biology to this? Please I want to hear from women with expierience. Thanks

I have four kids- nursed all of them.

You lose about 10 pounds of water when you stop nursing. The body likes to keep it around... I suppose just to punish us. Kidding!

The older you are, the harder it is to lose pregnancy weight. My mom told me that once you get over 30, you have to try twice as hard to lose it.

Lifting weights or walking would probably be your best bet. We can't all be like Angelina with personal trainers. Don't push yourself to hard though- slow and steady baby!

Good luck.

I lost all my weight and 10 lbs more by 9 months postpartum whle nursing. (Of course I had extra weight kicking around before I got pregnant and and then I got gestational diabetes, was monitored like crazy and only put on 18 pounds during my pregnancy.)

It seems to have disappeared from different places though or something because I think my tummy is still flabby. (Could that be from a c-section??? Hey I think I've got another Yahoo Question!!)

Still nursing and the weightloss has tapered off now so it's nice to hear I' can expect to lose a bit more water weight when I stop.

Um, you lost 50 lbs in 6 mo and you think you could do better?!

I have heard that some woemen carry around a few extra pounds until they fully wean, but this is certainly not true of every mom. I for one lost all my pregnancy weight by 9 months post partum and then went on to loose 10 more pounds while still breastfeeding. You are only at 6 months post patrum; give yourself a little more time!

First off....
How much did you gain the first time around? Are you comparing losing a totally different amount of weight? Apples and oranges?

Second:
In 6 months you've lost 50 lbs!!!!! That's amazing!!!!! Keep in mind "9 months on, 9 months off."

Third:
How are you eating? Are you active?
Eliminating just 100 calories per day from your diet can help you begin to lose weight. Gradual weight loss of about one pound per week, while consuming about 1500 to 1800 calories per day, will help you to feel good and have the energy you need to care for your baby.

Fourth:
Weight loss does usually slow after 6 months.

i lost weight when i was breast feeding so i don't know after you are done if you do but i would think so because you are not trying to eat all the right foods to have the baby healthy
