Magnification And Resolution

Magnification means how much bigger. Resolution means how small you can see. If you overdo the magnification, the finite wavelength of light starts to hurt your resolution. There are some tricks you can pull to get around this a bit, such as oil immersion or phase contrast microscopy.

As with any magnification/resolution issue, as you increase the magnification from say 10X--->40X---> to 100X you decrease the resolution and the ability to efficiently desern between two points.
You may be able to see objects that could not be seen before at the decreased magnification, resolution would be decreased.

note: Dear Students first a request i.e. plz do mention ur grades along with ur Quires so it will b upto ur level of understanding. thanx
Now here's the ans:
magnification is for increasing the apparent size of the object, by multiplying power of "eye piece" with power of "objective".

Resolution is the capacity to separate adjacent form or object . hope gottcha !!!!!
one more and that is called "CONTRAST" which is important in distinguishing from one part of the cell from another. Best Wishes
