That's a mixed bag, isn't it? Simply put, it all depends. Even though I am conservative in many ways, I am still open to allowing many things to be said and expressed, even with offensive language. Parents should monitor what is being aimed at their children, but they can't control everything. Many things will be seen and heard by kids through many sources, but it seems like they are being bombarded with sexualized images and words constantly. Adults, it seems, are being restricted with what we can read and see, primarily by our State governments. Access to information is vital to any citizen, yet, haven't you noticed how difficult it is to access information about your local political and social happenings? This is the type of censorship that should be eliminated. "He who has the gold makes the rules" still seems to apply in our society.

Censorship as far as in violence and nudity on television i agree with and feel that it is helpful, but when they ruin a perfectly good movie by putting it on "regular" TV then cutting everything out and changing the dialog that's kind of annoying.

It shouldn't exist in any way, shape or form. The moment that anybody decides what is proper or unproper to be said or shown we have all lost freedom of speech. There simply can't be one universal set of guidelines for what is acceptable speech and what isn't, what is perfectly valid for me will be perfectly invalid for my neighbor and vice versa, and neither of us should have the right to silence each other simply because in our opinion the other's viewpoint strays from our own.
I say let anybody say whatever they want in any medium and let economic forces decide whether that opinion becomes popular or dies out. Silencing any opinion through censorship of any kind is a very easy way to destroy the creation of very valid ideas in any society, in my opinion.

JoBu thinks it needs to be done away with. Put an impetus on the parents to control what their kids are watching.
Rum Shots to banning censorship!

I hate censorship, i really do. its a way of hiding what is real isn't it and it's a way of controlling what people see/hear/feel and thus controlling people.

I do not believe in censoring anything I can purchase or CHOOSE to look at, ie-CDs, pornography, or movies. I DO believe in it, however, if somebody is forcing others to listen to it, look at it, watch it, or use it. For example, I would not appreciate hearing cusswords on the radio, seeing nudity or sex acts on the television before 9-10pm when my child might happen upon it, or receiving spam mail with gross subject lines. If I CHOOSE to look at something, that is my choice, so it's whatever goes. When I am forced to look at or hear something offensive, I feel that isn't right, and it should be censored.

In theory it sounds good. BUT, who's the censor? Who picks the censor.
Heres a better idea: Parents; control your kids. If you don't like it, then don't look
