My old landlord as a kid. She helped my family out so many times when we didn't have the means. She is like a grandmother to me still today. She taught me about African heritage, She got me interested in reading and she always would sit down and talk to me about her pass and life growing up. She is just a great person. It's sad now that her mind is leaving her and she can''t remember me sometimes, but it never stops me from visiting and being there for her like she was for me. She was a great role model and has helped me many times thoughout my life. I met her when I was 5 and I'm 30 now she's like family.

I would have to say first the rest of my family but externally it would have to be my old boss. I worked for 4 years as a cashier in a local supermarket. The owner was one of the most incredible people I have met up to this point in my life. He was an older man that I knew most of my life, my father had also worked at the same store before I was born. I witnessed tons of acts of kindness out of this man, if a person was short on money to buy groceries for the month he would reach into his pockets and hand them money to feed their families, if a member of the community passed away there was immediately food sent from the store to them, if a customer could not make it to the store anymore he would have one of us deliver the groceries to them. I learned how to be a better person by watching him. He was like a grandfather to me and the other kids that worked there. I still remember my last conversation with him - I started to apologize for quitting so that I could go to college and he told me "never to apologize to anyone for making a better life for yourself." Since that day 5 years ago I have never apologized for bettering myself. The girls I worked with and I were in college when he passed away, it was a rule that you were not allowed to miss classes with a funeral excuse unless it was a relative. All of us girls told the schools that our grandfather had passed away so that we could be there for a person that meant so much to us.

My sister Sharon. My mother took off when I was 3 weeks old, Ihad three older sisters. Sharon was 8 at the time - she and our oldest sister Teresa 10 at the time pretty much raised me. Then later when I was in HS I moved in with her and her husband because I could not get along with my step mom. I jsut always remember Sharon fixing supper and helping me with my homework (she was just a kid herself) I remember her like frying pork chops and then coming to check my work. Then in HS how she would encourage me to work harder on reports and strive to get better grades. I remember wanting to go into the USAF and everyone doubting me because I am small framed and light voiced. She never doubted me for a minute. I went in and got an education and training and experience. My entire life is better because of my sister.

I have expressed this to her many times in many ways.

I really like your question :-)

---

"Outside of your parents, who influenced your life more than anyone else?"

- in a positive way: 2 american friends I met online a few years ago (I live in France), 2 french friends, my brother's wife and her daughter, a french doctor named Annie, a french astrologist named Isoline, 2 french stone-salers in Paris, a kind of healer in paris named Fabrice and a few other people I don't remember yet;

- in a negative way: people I met at work.

I answered a similar question as this earlier.

The person who most influenced me would be my grade three teacher. Without his help I probably wouldn't be "seeing" the world as I do now. You see I'm legally blind... he showed me there was more to life than dark shadows and blurs, he made my parents understand that I really couldn't see, and he showed me many ways to be more independant.

My first grade teacher influenced my life more than anyone else, excepting my parents. She cared about her students and her job and taught me to always help others.

My husband. And he might say the same thing of me. We have grown and improved so much in our lives because of each other.

My husband is my role model. I have improved because of him.
