What does your child support agreement state? For some, payments end at age of majority. For others, they continue while the child is in school.

It depends on what is considered adult age in your area. The UK is 18, as some states in the US but some count it as 21. So check that first.

Otherwise the short answer is NO unless there is some clause in a maintenance contract that says otherwise - so check that too - again, otherwise the short answer is NO.

Do you love your child or have they just been a burden, a financial ball and chain for the last 18 years?I'd say that if all you are concerned about is whether you "have" to pay maintenance then you are a very poor parent and they would probably be better off without your money anyway.

The age maintenance stops is 17 unless the child is in full time education. As yours isn't then I don't think you should be paying any more, particularly as he is working part time.

I think you still have to if the child continues full time education. Therefore if he's only learning part time no maintenance will be payable

There is no legal requirements, but as a father wouldn't you want to help him out if he needs it? I am adopted and they divorced when I was 11. But even at 18 he never stopped doing things for me. I am 31 and if I needed anything he would be there. It's not about the money it's about being a father!

no...once your child reaches the age of 18 then that child is classed as an adult...so the answer is no.....if this child is 18 now then you need to contact the autorities and tell them, so they will stop the cash going into his/her account, it's still ok to hand out pocket money though, all kids of that age like to have a few quid in their pocket...

in my case when I turned 18 my dad stopped paying child suppport, especially since I took a year off. If I woulda stayed in school after highschool and gone full time his obligation was to keep on paying up till I was done with school.

hey what kind of parent are you any way, you should want to help take care of your child until he is 21 or able to stand on his own feet bad enough you don't live their maybe the extra money might still be needed or are your needs first . keep helping your child that's what parents do. and hello 18 is not an adult he still needs financial help so stop and keep up the payments wow!

the answer is most likely Not as he is in work too. The only way you should have to carry on is if he in FULL time education or if you have any arrears owing on the maintenance award to your Child.
