well in here ppl seem to think that it will work, but not only have a i tried, i have asked in other forums (cant remember which off the top of my head) and i was told ff8, due to the programs the used to make it or something, was not compatible with anything other then the originial playstation, which sux cause i really wanna play it! >.< so if u know how i can get it workin id be happy to listen :P i have the newer ps1 n ps2 and it wont work on either.

My FF7 and FF8 seem to work in my PS2. It might be your disks. You should try them in someone elses PS1 or PS2. If its not the disk, there could be something wrong with your PS2, but that wouldn't explain why it doesn't work on your PS1. Wish I could help out more...

I agree with the "check your disc" answers; FF8 works on our PS2 without a hitch or a stall. If other games work on your machine...I would test your disc on a different machine..
(When the PS2 first came out in the US, there was talk about international compatibility. It's been so long that I really don't remember all the issues other than US players should not purchase a PS2 from "overseas" if they intend on playing US versions of the games.)

I have FF8 and have had no problems playing it first on the original Playstation, then on the newer PS1. I haven't tried it on the PS2 yet. I have played FF7 (original) on all three platforms with no problems....

Are the disc in good shape?

Have u tried in somebody elses's PS2?
