Because there as so many different strains of the common cold and it changes all the time, so it's impossible to make a vaccine to protect against them.

Sometimes after the flu jab you can symptoms of a cold and that is just a reaction of the vaccine. You may still get the flu even though you have had the vaccine but it might not be as severe.

when they inject you they are putting either a dead or almost dead version of the flu in you to get your body to produce more white cells to help kill it when it actually does hit your system. Unfornately though your body is so focused on fighting off this small stain of the flu that it can't take out minor things like colds as well as before you got the injection. My personal recommendations...put up with the colds for a while they are afterall a lot less to put up with then the flu. Hope you feel better soon. :)

I can understand what you are saying, but if you had flu, you would know it, it's a deadly disease. While most of us receive colds, they are mainly viruses we pick up from other people. The best thing someone should do if they have a cold, is isolate themselves by staying at home to prevent it spreading, especially to workmates.

I know, you always get the guy who has never had a cold in his or her life and tell everyone and their brother, "Oh look at them, they've only got a cold, I've had a lot worse". Well different virisus spread different disease's, and therefore everyone has different reactions, some worse than others. But the Boss or employee's who condemn people who stay of work for a cold, should think again, if you return to work, they whole business might catch the infection.

Because there are different viruses of colds. When you get a flu shot and you end up with the flu a few days later, its because you already had it in your system before you got the flu shot, i know from experience, i had to call the doctor and he explained it to me. which makes since. So that year i had to suffer through the flu for awhile even though i got the shot.

Colds can be caused by many viruses. The "flu" is caused by the influenza virus. The vaccine only protects against this virus. And even then, it only protects against certain strains. What happens is that vaccine manufacturers try to predict which strains will be prevalent that year. If an unexpected strain emerges, then you can still get the flu. So get the flu shot, but don't expect it to be 100% effective against getting the flu, and it certainly won't protect you against colds caused by other viruses.

Companies that develop flu vaccines do so in response to the most rampant form of flu virus that they expect for the year. Colds are caused by lots of different viruses that have nothing to do with specific flu viruses.
